2016 Manning Winter Festival

The Manning Winter Festival is a vibrant celebration of creative talent on NSW's mid-north coast. Held biennially, the festival engages the local community and beyond with concerts, exhibitions and activities promoting the arts.

We were delighted when Jonathan was commissioned to create a musical work depicting the Valley, to be featured in the 2016 Opening Ceremony. From Hidden Valleys to the Open Sea, for Chamber Ensemble, takes the listener on a journey from the heights of Barrington Tops and other mountain peaks all the way to the sea, just beyond Taree - the composer's hometown.

The world premiere of From Hidden Valleys to the Open Sea received a standing ovation from an enthralled audience! Its second performance also had the audience buzzing, at the concert "The Power of Music and Words", held in St John's Anglican Church with its beautiful acoustics.

Jonathan was announced as the Manning Winter Festival Ambassador for the next two years, a role with much honour and many opportunities to advance the arts in communities of the Manning and further afield.
