Introducing Jara Stinson, who will be playing violin in the upcoming concert...
Jara is a professional violinist, based in Sydney. She began taking violin lessons with Jonathan Billingham at the age of 10.
A few years into learning the instrument, Jara began busking at markets and was approached by the concert master of the local orchestra to participate in the 1st violin section. Over the next few years, Jara played with 2 other ensembles for string players lead by Juen VanHand, initially playing 1st violin but taking up the role of principal 2nd when needed.
During her time with the local orchestra, Jara was awarded the 2010 Sinfonia MNC Music Scholarship and also a number of awards in the district eisteddfod. In 2013, Jara passed her 8th grade AMEB exam and was awarded first place in the Taree District Eisteddfod championships for instrumentalists along with most promising senior instrumentalist.
The following year, Jara moved to Sydney to further her musical study and in May of 2016 completed her Bachelor of Contemporary Music Performance. During her time in Sydney, Jara has performed at some of Sydney's most well-known jazz venues, including The Basement, Foundry 616, and Lazybones Lounge with her band "Nautilus" and others.
Jara now works in Sydney as a violin teacher and freelance musician. She has performed on TV shows, such as The X Factor and The Voice Australia.
