Among our distinguished musicians will be flautist, Michael Scott, performing music for Wind Quintet and Chamber Orchestra by Jonathan L. Billingham.

Introducing Michael Scott

Michael Scott was Professor of Flute for 20 years at Sydney Conservatorium of Music. He was Executive Officer of Conservatorium Mid North Coast for a period of two years.

Michael is one of Australia’s leading exponents of the French School of flute playing, having studied in Paris at the Conservatoire National Superieur de Musique with Jean-Pierre Rampal. Many of Michael’s  former students have gained professional orchestral and academic positions within Australia and overseas.

His distinguished career includes permanent Principal positions with the Queensland Symphony; Orchestra of the Australian Opera, Sydney Opera House; and the Australian Chamber Orchestra of which he was a foundation member, as well as Guest Principal with the Adelaide Symphony. He has performed as concerto soloist with each of these as well as several times with the Sydney Symphony.

Michael has also appeared as Conductor with, among others, the Queensland Symphony; Australian Youth Orchestra; Sydney Youth Orchestra; Shanghai Radio Broadcast Orchestra, and has been a regular tutor for many student orchestras.
